The Turkish singer Mine Yücel, born and raised in Germany, delighted the audience and Press with her performance of Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte). The critics of the German paper “Die Welt” distinguished her as a fascinating Soprano with an “agile, animated voice”. Her singing has also been described as “warm, honest and agile” .In addition to her longer engagements with Wuppertaler Bühnen and Staatstheater Meiningen, Mine Yücel is freelancing throughout Germany in theaters such as Oper Köln, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Cottbus, and Theater Hagen. There she showcased her diversified repertoire, including Micaela, Konstanze, Sylva Varescu, Musetta, Gilda, Saffi, Fiordiligi and Giulietta. In the 2018/2019 season, she embodied the role of Gabriele in the highly anticipated german Premiere of Schoeck’s Das Schloss Dürande at Staatstheater Meiningen. With the Corona Pandemic, the last shows of Sylva Varescu and Konstanze were cancelled, giving her time to focus on her voice, which was already changing. While maintaining vocal agility and high notes, there were changes in color and her middle range was blossoming.. So she started to explore her Mezzo-soprano side again. She found she was more “at home” in the Mezzo-soprano repertoire, with roles like Carmen or Princess Eboli, where she can use her temperament, coloratura and her comic side much more often.
She began her education with Cordula Sodt, studied with Prof. Richardson – Smith at the College of Music Hanover and further with Prof. Kelly – Moog at the College of Music Cologne. She graduated with Honors and attained her diploma and Master of Music. She enriched her singing by attending master classes with famous singers and conductors: Ks Mirella Freni, Edda Moser, Ks Anna Tomowa – Sintow, Ks Anja Harteros, Prof. Gerd Uecker, Prof. Thomas Heyer and Prof. Dunja Vejzovic.
The Mezzosoprano was granted a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Society. She is the Winner of Opernspiele Munot, Schlossoper Haldenstein and Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg.
